- There may not be a salary hike every year. (No hike for the past 2 years).
- Your immediate manager decides your rating, bonus, hike, and everything else. There is no peer review or reverse review. This may not be a good thing if you and your manager aren't on good terms.

Instead of firing whole departments/teams, selective firing must be followed. There are so many bright, talented people just in the wrong place at the wrong time getting fired for no fault of theirs.

Don't just look at revenue and shut down teams; try to revive them. Try to change your market strategies to turn them into profitable businesses.

Top management needs to buckle up. Acquiring and then realizing that the acquisition wasn't worth the money paid is happening way too often at Cisco.
