Pros

Good work/life balance.

Good salary and advantages for high-ranking employees.

Attractive voluntary departure plan (PSE).

Cons

Cisco's business is declining, and Cisco is focusing a lot on external growth (company acquisition) to the detriment of its employees.

My company was acquired three years ago by Cisco. Cisco failed to provide a clear direction. A lot was invested in projects which were then discarded.

The collaboration between all the R&D sites is not effective, and there is lots of competition to the detriment of the products.

Management decisions are often not understood.

Bonus attribution is carried out in an opaque manner and depends a lot on ranking (higher-ranked employees are favored).

Advice to Management

Reduce the number of ranks. Invest in people creating the value. Add more transparency regarding decisions and promotions. Provide a real, concrete direction and put people with good technical understanding in charge of the products.
