In recent years, Cisco hasn't been giving annual merit increases. This month, it cut back on many things, such as free drinks, home internet access, and etc. It's understandable in this economy.
However, I think the company should stop paying a huge premium for companies with no customers or no profit. Instead, they should use that money to do internal R&D and use part of that money as incentives for current employees to come up with innovative ideas and products.
Stop acquiring tiny companies with huge amounts. Use that money to develop internal products instead.
