High compensation, valuable experience, opens doors for future jobs.
High burnout rate, poor teamwork, an "every-man-for-himself" mentality, poor communication from direct management. You are often in the dark about prioritization and overall project/group status, and left to fend for yourself in gathering/interpreting feedback from traders and management.
Fostering teamwork, having some semblance of a career development model. These are basic things. The conclusion is that management doesn't value them or see the need for them.
You want to work at Citadel, you better be ready for the "challenge".
Sad that the challenge isn't just in doing the work itself -- which is what one would want/expect.
Many companies in the same domain do a much better job of retaining and developing human capital.
Engineers/developers who endure at Citadel are very often (> 75%) single and/or reclusive types who are anything but "balanced". They drive the "culture".
