Process
The process consists of 3 rounds.

Phone call (30min; 1 interviewer) HR type of questions.

Zoom video call (60min, 2 interviewers) More technical questions about your work experience.

Zoom video call (4hr) with 4 parts:
3a. Coding challenge (90min, 1 interviewer) Don't sweat. It's not the complex algorithms or data structures type of challenge.
3b. Technical Project Discussion (60min, 2 interviewers) Discuss a previous tech project.
3c. Technical Leadership Discussion (60min, 2 interviewers)
3d. Culture Fit Discussion (30min, 1 interviewer)
Overall, the whole interview process is a positive experience, and most of the interviewers are quite skillful at really getting to know you. Clio does have a unique approach to selecting its candidates, which was what first impressed me.
Having gone through the final round with confidence, I have to say I am disappointed with Clio's final decision, overlooking many of my strengths and not giving me the chance to prove myself in (or improve on) what they considered my weaknesses, simply because I didn't seem to be able to back them up with previous experiences. While I understand there are many talented candidates out there, from many years of experience working with different people, I am confident that I possess some rare traits that are not found in many employees and that companies would value, especially Clio.
Having said that, I still believe Clio is a great company to work for and would definitely encourage others to apply if the jobs seem to be a good fit. All the best! =)

Pros: - Working from home since COVID.
- Get to work with intelligent people (IQ and EQ), but this also depends on your team.
- Great CI pipeline and engineering practices.
Cons: I used to rave about this company and was so happy to work here. But my outlook has changed drastically.
Salary:
* The new salary review process makes it more difficult to get a raise. I consider myself a high performer and have been told that by past managers at the company. Based on the new criteria, I am only an average performer. The definition for a high performer is basically being an executive or performing a job for which you are heavily underpaid.
* If you take advantage of the work-from-home situation, the pay can be worth the work-life balance, but the company tries to make it hard to achieve, never giving a break to enjoy the job. Pay could be improved in general though.
* The company uses staff volunteers for the annual Clio Conference, getting hundreds of work hours for free. Some positions are required to work for it without additional compensation (usually not engineering, luckily). You'll be more "accepted" if you volunteer.
Engineering:
* Understaffed and expecting too much of teams.
* There is always a push for earlier deadlines to compete with a competitor. There is not enough recovery time.
* Unstable environment; expect to get moved around across projects and teams as their deadlines are moved earlier.
* Teams aren't staffed appropriately. A team of backend developers will be on a frontend project with only one frontend developer. This adds additional strain to the individual on the team and not enough support for the rest. This would be fair if the team was given time to learn, but they are not.
* Whether you enjoy your time will depend on your manager. Teams are siloed. A poor manager can ruin it, and a great manager can make it worth your while.
Benefits:
* Benefits are not exciting compared to other tech companies.
* Why is each paycheck deducted for the health benefits? It's not really a benefit if we are paying for it. Other companies cover this.

Good work environment, sub-par pay and growth opportunities

Pros: The company seems genuine about inclusiveness and provides a relatively safe work environment, along with support for growth and mentorship for junior employees. The vast majority of employees are friendly and helpful, and recognize when you go above and beyond. The development environment and workflow is superb.
Cons: The pay is mediocre, and performance reviews can be surprising because feedback from management is lackluster. The company puts a lot of time into gathering feedback and hearing about problem areas, but fails to follow through on improving much at all. This seems like a place where talented developers are always on their way out the door.
