Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

July 1, 2020
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The entire process is a gimmick designed to hype the company's profile.

I was dejected at being rejected despite getting everything right. Then, I met a few others who made it to FANG that were also rejected, which made me feel better.

From my research and talking with former Coinbase employees, I'm convinced the company is looking for B-grade "bro-grammer" type talent they can control. Rejecting top talent is their way of artificially boosting their street creds.

In conclusion, take the interview as practice for better companies. I benefited as this was my first HackerRank pair program and helped me get used to the interface.

Questions

System design question, same as one described in other reviews.

Also included some random HTTP/REST API questions.

Overall, a relaxing and easy interview.

The interviewer looked and sounded demoralized, as if they were going through the motions.
