• Upper management has a lot of vision. Comcast has a very robust strategy for diversifying its business model to respond to "cable cutting."

Dealing with people in other divisions can feel daunting at times, but this is common to basically any organization the size of Comcast.

Make sure you like your manager; they have enormous control over your experience. Luckily, I really like my manager.

I wish they would invest more on employee laptops. I don't think management realizes how much smoother their engineers could be working if they weren't so constrained by limited RAM.

• Buy better computers for software developers; it will pay for itself multiple times over with increased productivity.

Alternatively, allow employees to use Linux on their laptops. Switching from Mac to Linux could save Comcast millions a year.
