I had a great interview experience at Confluent. I applied online when they had just received Series D funding. The process involved three rounds of phone interviews: one with the hiring manager and two technical phone interviews.
Shortly after the second technical phone interview, I was invited for an onsite interview. The onsite consisted of one medium coding question and two system design questions. The last two rounds were interviews with the hiring manager and the VP of engineering.
You can easily tell the engineers there are very smart. For general engineering positions, it's common for interviewers to mention that their coworkers are great and the people are nice. I heard this even more at my interview at Confluent; almost every interviewer I met told me they like working there because the people are nice and very smart.
Confluent is a very tech-driven company, and its employees have very strong backgrounds. The company is growing super fast, and it's a good time to join.
I had personal issues that prevented me from joining the team, but Confluent remains at the top of my list if I decide to move to the West Coast.
Medium coding questions.
System design questions: They're looking for thinking of tradeoffs of each solution.
