I applied for a Software Engineer position in Distributed Data Systems in Amsterdam. I completed three technical interviews (one through Karat) and one Hiring Manager round.
After completing these rounds, I received an email from HR stating that they wished to conduct one more technical interview before proceeding onsite. I was still agreeable to this, although I believe if one cannot assess coding skills after three technical interviews, it's better to conclude the process at that stage.
The interesting part, however, is that after two weeks of no scheduling, I reached out to HR and received an automated email stating, "Databricks won't be moving ahead with the interview."
I emailed HR again for feedback, and the response was a skills mismatch. This is truly disappointing. After spending two months preparing for Databricks, completing three technical and one Hiring Manager round, you claim a skills mismatch? I never presented anything in the interviews that wasn't already on my resume.
It was a complete waste of my time and effort. The entire process took over a month just to schedule the interviews. A company that cannot accurately assess skill matching is unlikely to excel in other areas.
