I applied for two roles: one for which I was perfectly qualified, and another for which I was not.

I was told that I was rejected for the perfect role, with no explanation. A screening was scheduled for the other role, which was implied to be by phone. So, I just assumed they would call me.

I received an email a few minutes after it was due to start with a Zoom link. Late, and what if I wasn't at a computer? Not a good start.

The screening itself was fine, and the interviewer was polite and easy to talk to.

I inquired about the rejection and was told that they had no information about it.

I was told there would be four more rounds:

• A live coding test
• A take-home challenge
• A systems design discussion
• A final round with the hiring manager

I decided not to proceed. It wasn't the worst experience ever, but I just sort of lost interest by the end of the first round.
