IT company with little room for software developers
Software Developer II • Former Employee
Round Rock, Texas, United States
June 1, 2010
Pros: Life/Work Balance: You usually don't see people working after 6 p.m.
Salary: It's reasonably OK considering the expenses in Texas.
Cons: Growth room:
For software developers, Dell is just providing service for its online selling business. There are no cutting-edge techniques involved. It's generally web development and database processing. There are no such things as "platform developing" as in Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, etc.
Software is not the product, and there is no formalized code review or check-in policy.
For business guys, it might be good.
Benefits:
There are no such things like free drinks or other offers as in the Bay Area. Again, it's not like the software companies in Silicon Valley.
