Pros

Dell pays a competitive salary and generally supports work/life balance. If one of a chosen few, you would be given high-visibility roles which would help your career grow. Dell generally supports flexible working hours if business needs permit. The salary is great when compared to Austin's cost of living.

Cons

Lack of career growth opportunities as engineering development work is sent offshore.

Doing presentations to senior management is valued more than doing innovative work in the lab.

Dell is a marketing company and not an engineering company. It is more interested in selling commodities cheaply than in putting money into R&D and innovation.

Advice to Management

Time to invest in engineering innovation.
