Lead Engineer Interview Experience - Burlingame, California
Process
The initial interview was conducted by the founder and President via phone.
Subsequently, there was an onsite interview in-studio with all team members and a programming test.
They were passionate and excited about the company and their mobile games currently in the app store. They asked me tough questions, but I was made to feel welcome and respected during the entire interview.
Questions
The toughest question was why I would choose to leave my existing company. Truthfully, I wasn't unhappy there, but a recruiter told me about this start-up. They spoke of the founder's success in previous ventures and that they were building core mobile games of the future. It was hard to resist wanting to talk with them, but hard to explain why I was willing to leave a well-established company, move my family, and join an unproven start-up.
