I found the position on LinkedIn and applied online through the company's website. You just have to send in a CV.
I actually sent two CVs from two different e-mail addresses because I forgot to mention something key to the position in my first CV. You can only apply once per role, so once you submitted anything, you cannot go back. That key information was that I'm currently working in a "SaaS environment," which Dropbox is looking after.
A few days after, my application (the one with the key information on the CV) was rejected. Two weeks later, the one where I didn't mention SaaS made it through to the interview.
I was requested to select a 15-minute slot online. The interview was a phone interview (no Skype) where I was asked typical questions: "Why us?" "Why you?" "What have you done in a similar environment?" etc.
The role required heavy technical skills, which was not mentioned in the job description. As my technical background is limited (I'm a functional pre-sales), even though I showed I knew a bit, that was not enough. End of the call and bye-bye.
I sent an email after the call to thank the interviewer for her time and highlighted my qualities for the role. They never took the time to reply to my email.
Cold, pre-formatted discussion, no response to my "thank-you" email – I would then say the experience was pretty much negative.
What do you know about us?
What have you done in your previous job experiences?
How could you reuse them, and why do you feel you could fit in that position?
Why wouldn't you apply for a sales position?
