Process

I submitted my interest for this position online. A recruiter called me after two months, stating they had an issue with their recruitment system and asking if I was still interested in the position.

The process comprised of a phone interview (via Skype) and then a 3.5-hour in-person interview. The phone interview was very standard, reading off a checklist, not really looking to learn more about personality or anything personal. I asked for feedback after answering all their questions, and they stated they don't provide feedback, so it was very hard to gauge where I was in the process. It might as well have been an online interview.

I was then invited for a 3.5-hour in-person interview. They wouldn't provide me with the people I would be speaking with, but did ask me to prepare a 20-minute presentation regarding a use case for a media company. They gave me about 24 hours to read through all the information and 'be ready'.

When I got to the location, I was introduced to a PM, where he went through a "teach the teacher" exercise. It involved a whiteboard explanation of how SAML works. He took about 15 minutes, and I took about 20 minutes, and we were slated for an hour for this exercise.

The next part was a panel interview to go over my presentation. They threw in "monkey wrenches" of typical questions/challenges they see, and I was not sure if I was close to the answer (e.g., what happens with conflicting files and the need for reducing international latency and compliance).

The last part of the interview was with a sales team, and there was no earth-shattering information or incentive.

Overall, I didn't get the feeling of them trying to sell me on the position, from anyone at the company.

I received a letter two days later stating: "I wanted to send an email to let you know that unfortunately, the team has decided that we're not a match for the Solutions Architect role. We have an opportunity to meet a lot of great people for our openings, but sadly can't move forward with everyone we have the pleasure of speaking with.

I'm afraid that because of company policy, we're unable to provide you with specific feedback regarding your application/interviews, but if there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know!"

I'm not sure what they were looking for or how I wasn't a match. In any case, they provided free green juice and a ton of snacks/drinks and sandwiches for consumption.
