Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Berlin, Germany

Process

The process began with an online screening round, featuring discussions about my past and current roles, agile processes and best practices, and the technologies I've used.

Next, I was given a take-home test, which had a 3-hour time limit but took me approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Finally, there was an on-site interview, divided into four parts:

  • Agile ways of working, which was similar to a behavioral interview.
  • Architecture and infrastructure, a mostly theoretical discussion on maintaining system stability.
  • A code review of the take-home test, which also included some technical trivia.
  • A wrap-up session with my prospective manager.

I was promised feedback within a couple of days. Although I knew by the end of the interviews that this role wasn't for me, it's quite amusing that I was ghosted. Who ghosts someone after an on-site interview? It's rather rude!
