Pros: Amazing food, smart coworkers, beautiful campus.

Cons: Very limited growth opportunities. Epic prides itself on a flat/flexible corporate structure. While this sounds nice in practice, it really leads to very few people actually advancing beyond the day-to-day work they were doing when they first started. Also, PTO is average at best, and the work-from-home policy (or lack thereof) is archaic. Culture is very feedback-driven, but very few changes actually come from the feedback.

Pros: The salary and the benefits are great. Epic also provides all the training you need to have a basic understanding of the job. Most people who work there are committed to working together to solve a problem and progress the company. The wardrobe is relaxed, and they encourage individuality and creativity.

Cons: There are lots of unspoken, unwritten rules, and they vary from role to role and from team to team. Epic has a lot of turnover, and this is partially because, in some roles (IS or Project Management mainly), people get burnt out from constant travel. Different roles look down on others because they know they make more money in general – it's kind of snobby/cliquish – but that's what you get when you hire mostly out of college.

Pros: Epic rewards hard work, not just tenure. There's a lot of opportunity for a hard worker and good communicator. You are given a lot of responsibility early on, which can be stressful but allows you to learn a lot. The people you work with are extremely intelligent, hardworking, and always willing to help. It truly is a team effort to get everything done.

Cons: How raises and salaries are decided is not transparent. Also, you only get raises on their annual raise cycle; it doesn't matter if you took on a new position and more responsibility. It feels as though there is a lot of turnover, so there are constantly new people on the team and a constant loss of knowledge as people switch teams or leave the company. There is a lot of pressure to meet deadlines and meet all of the customers' needs. If you are someone who is not good at saying no or asking for help, you could get swallowed up in the work and stress. Epic claims that there is good mobility across roles, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through to actually make that happen. From my experience, it felt like Epic did not care that much about actually getting someone into a position they were really interested in, unless that person threatened to leave. It would have been more encouraging to see Epic be proactive about getting people to the right positions instead of reactive.
