I received an email through HR as I had my CV on monster.com. The email asked me if I was interested, and I replied back.
We scheduled a telephone screen with an SDE from Epic that took about 45 minutes. Nothing serious, we just reviewed my resume and transcript.
Next step was the online proctored test. Pretty intense, it takes more than 3-4 hours.
About 4 weeks later, I was informed that they wanted to proceed.
Next step included a Rembrandt personality assessment and a phone call.
It was 45 minutes for HR and 45 minutes for the technical part. The call involved 2 questions and only pseudo-code.
Everything went well; the interviewers (both technical and HR) sounded happy and seemed like they wanted to proceed.
Then I had to submit an official, signed application through email and provide 3 references. I was told that they would get back to me within 2 weeks.
I started to wait, pretty sure that I would be extended an offer. After 2 weeks of no response, I emailed them, asking for the status of my application. No reply.
6 weeks passed by. It is almost time to submit H1B applications to USCIS, and I sent another email, asking what they are up to.
One week after my second email and 7 weeks after the final HR interview, I received a very short email telling me that they wanted to proceed with other candidates.
Seriously? This took you 7 weeks to decide... The entire process started with an unsolicited inquiry by Epic, and it took over 5 months!!!
I did not proceed with two other applications because I had wrongly assumed that I would be extended an offer. Now, on the last day to file an H1B petition, they tell me "NO"... Very unprofessional.
Thank you, Epic, for costing me an entire year...
If you are an international applicant, make sure to check your other options as well, in parallel, and do not count on Epic.
My last project, how I heard about EPIC, why EPIC, why USA...
