Long training period, good time after that, moved on to a bad manager

Pros: Some great benefits:
* Cheap healthcare
* Great location
* You're making a difference
* Beautiful campus
* Delicious and cheap food
* Solid pay (especially for the area)
You get constant feedback from your boss on how to improve/what you're doing well, and people are very helpful.
Cons: I got moved around a lot with some great managers, but I still would have liked some stability.
Some roles can be super rough with work/life balance and require a ton of travel. Depending on your manager, you can be expected to work pretty late.
Slow development process. Many teams are still using VERY outdated languages, so skills may not transfer to later jobs.
There is a lot to learn when you join: a long training period where you learn medical terms, code base, language, and healthcare regulations.

Best of intentions, mediocre execution

Pros: The company's goals (provide good customer service, improve health care) are easy to get behind. They're generally acknowledged as the best in the health IT field. The pay is competitive, and the atmosphere is casual. They seem to hire, or at least intend to hire, based on ability rather than quantity of resume buzzwords.
Cons: You aren't likely to acquire trendy skills while working here. Though some people do web/mobile development, depending on your team (and/or customer, if you're in a customer-facing role), you might work long hours. I don't, and that obviously affects the rating I'm giving.
The company has a rather controversial reputation due to a number of outspoken former employees and competitors. You'll frequently be asked about your job.

Great Mentorship, Tricky Communication

Pros: The interns actually get to have a say in their project design, which is nice. Everyone gets a sizable office to share with one other intern, too. Each team of 2-4 interns has its own mentor for advice, which is also a plus. The pay is nice, too, and there are a lot of intern activities outside of work hours.
Cons: My specific project was a case of the team lead having an idea in mind and not communicating it well. The training could be better; there are plenty of internal manuals you can find, but you've got to hunt for them a bit.
