Pros: - I get to work with some of the brightest people. - Beautiful campus. - Culinary.

Cons: - Division leads getting demoted for pushing back on the return plan. - Forcing parents to either work part-time or take a leave of absence, and forcing them to take a pay and benefit cut, when they are the people who need it the most. - Failing to keep THE ONLY promise made to employees: a COVID update email at EOM. - Banned and removed all open discussions on all platforms regarding the company's COVID response.

Pros: Very generous compensation. Important, fulfilling work. Solid onboarding and continued learning (actual trainer-run classes).

Cons: Can be high stress. Can be very demanding for a first job out of college. A lot of people are young at Epic, and people who know their domain like the back of their hand seem scarce. Can feel like a code monkey. My experience developing has felt very individualistic and lacked the collaboration that can make it more fun. Lack of strong work-from-home options. Uses old languages (Mumps) / methods of development that are very Epic-specific.

Pros: The company is working on some interesting stuff, and they have a lot of resources at their disposal. The food is good, and people are generally very nice. Madison is a nice town, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Cons: Though they are moving towards modernizing, a lot of what they use is a bit outdated (Subversion, Visual Basic). I would expect this to not apply anymore in about a year, with the exception of M, the language they use for their database. Your experience will vary widely with your Team Leader, and there isn't really anything you can do about who you get initially as far as I know, though you can switch later if you want (but not many apparently do). I said Madison is a nice town, but the campus is on the outskirts of town in Verona, which leaves you with a choice: live close to work, or live close to the things that make Madison interesting. I ended up choosing to live close to work and eventually found that I missed a lot of the aspects of city life. Additionally, the work-from-home policy and attitude towards COVID is in stark contrast to a lot of other tech companies -- no plans for any sort of hybrid and very loose with their mask policies, etc.
