Pros

Epic pays well. They give you a lot of independence. Your coworkers are very intelligent and driven, and there are a lot of benefits.

Cons

At Epic, you are always expected to be moving onto the next thing. When you get comfortable in an internal role, you use it to springboard into another, rinse and repeat.

Since the teams are so independent and individual-driven, a few people will naturally have all of the knowledge/expertise in your area, and there aren't many processes built into the company to disseminate that information.

Lastly, while at Epic, your time is rarely your own. It's not unreasonable or unexpected to work 50-60+ hour weeks. The lack of set work hours puts the onus on you to determine how long you need to work, and many implementation timelines are unreasonably fast.

The company has disregarded overwhelming support for work from home and even tried to pull the company back to campus during the summer of 2020.

Advice to Management

You hired adults; trust them to do the work that you are paying them to do, from wherever they feel most comfortable.

If WFH was such a disaster, then why do we brag about growth and profit in 2020 and 2021?
