Great place to work, but it's not a technology company like they believe. Software Engineer - Leap Hire
- Great retirement benefits.
- Laid-back environment (my business unit no longer has a dress code).
- Great setup (two 24" monitors for everyone).
- Other benefits are really great (maternity/paternity leave was increased, tuition reimbursement, college loan help).
- Pay, team quality, manager quality, and the projects you work on differ enormously between business units and groups within those units.
- Too many managers with little to no technical experience making technical decisions (my boss still thinks Git and GitHub are the same thing).
- Managers seem to make decisions that please everyone versus making the right decision.
- Hiring process was terrible. My technical interview consisted of the following questions:
- Is JavaScript a subset of Java?
- How would you write an SQL query?
- What is a class?
- This sounds awesome until you realize how dumb you could be and still get hired if this is all the knowledge you need.
- Stop paying analysts the same as engineers. They can't do everything an engineer does, so don't pay them as if they could.
