Good progress has been made on adapting to the requirements of being a company in Silicon Valley, but Ford is quite far behind the curve. Only recently have they begun to consider Software Developers as a separate role from IT.
Salary is not competitive with other Bay Area companies. Both of these things need to change if Ford wants to attract top talent; there's no way around it.
Ford is also currently quite top-heavy. There are instances of managers managing one other manager.
