Pros: I found my internship very enjoyable. I was assigned the task of building an internal tool to help boost productivity. I had two mentors to assist me with requirements, but they gave me the freedom to build the application however I saw fit. Other observations: * Geico was very upfront about the large role of software development in the company's future, and they are on the tail end of retiring a bunch of legacy systems in favor of new, in-house .NET applications. * There is a large emphasis on test-driven development and unit test coverage, which is obviously a good thing. * I feel that Geico values software developers more than the average large non-tech company.

Cons: Some of my fellow interns weren't as lucky as me and said they were sometimes bored and didn't have much work to do. I didn't get a chance to work on an actual team so I can't comment on that side of things. The downsides of most typical large companies apply here.

Pros: Had a good first couple months, but after the new management shift, there seemed to be a lot of shady activity. I wasn't involved in many senior dev meetings, had less responsibility, and wasn't given a lot of access to other senior dev resources. Overall, it seemed like a setup to get fired for performance.

Cons: - Lack of company direction. - No central documentation for any processes; expired docs. - Behind in technology. - Shady management.

Pros: Good cyber security co-workers and leaders. Room for growing; I got a promotion in 1 year. Cutting-edge tech.

Cons: My experience was in IT. It is a good place to work. I enjoyed the time I spent there.
