Smart work pays off
GEICO has a promote-from-within mentality, and there is constant movement for jobs that report to the Home Office (IT, CHO, Product Management, other staff departments).
The profit sharing is great, and there is a family atmosphere in most teams that I've been in.
It is difficult to get a position "out of the region," meaning reporting to HQ, in some of the profit centers. Opportunities to post to staff positions are not equal across the company, so that can be a frustration for many people.
Some departments are not properly balanced, and the preparation senior management gives is not always aligned with their expectations.
Provide more time for internal training, especially in IT.
There needs to be ample opportunity to train up your people and step back to admire what we have all accomplished.
