I know it is not fair to judge a company the size of GE by the small part I saw. However, I will never work for GE again.
I was in their complex in Louisville, KY. My office was next to an assembly line. The noise was horrific.
The place was also filthy dirty. We all had respiratory issues due to the conditions. I was also told by maintenance that only about 40% of the building's ventilation system was working.
I went upstairs to escape these conditions, only to find the dust was just as bad. Plus, the carpets were dirty, moldy, and infested with vermin. At least it was quiet.
I left after 11 months because I could not do my job in that environment.
Spend some money improving working conditions. You could save some on attempting to cool the place by painting the roofs white. At least it wouldn't be so bloody hot in the summer.
