Pros
  • There are some incredibly smart people.
  • Company culture used to be pretty good.
Cons
  • Used to have better work-life balance, but "do less with less" turned into "do more with less" and now "do everything with nothing".
  • Compensation has not increased with the increased workload.
  • The company has had layoffs/firings/separations every six months for the past two years; there is very little stability, and morale is terrible.
  • New software management doesn't know what they're doing. They claim to be prioritizing quality, but continue rushing deadlines and involving QA late in the process. I anticipate they'll blame the teams involved, there will be "performance calibrations" and firings, and the complete failure of leadership will never be acknowledged until something goes terribly wrong.
  • It is very difficult to get promoted or receive performance bonuses, even when you work hard and do well.
Advice to Management

Reduce turnover, reduce the burden on the teams, increase compensation, and either slow down deadlines or break everything into smaller pieces and distribute it among smaller teams.
