Process

I had two interview processes because the first role was canceled due to COVID.

First process:

  • Round 1: 1-hour phone interview including an easy and a hard/medium programming problem.
  • Round 2: Four 1-hour video conferencing interviews. One data structures, one algorithms, one system design, and one more general.
  • Round 3: Three 30-minute interviews. One technical with the team lead, and two more casual discussions with managers on the team, talking about the role rather than assessing me.

Second process:

  • Four 1-hour video conferencing interviews. One data structures, one algorithms, one system design, and one more general.

It took several months to be given an offer after the second process. Originally, they went with another candidate but gave me an offer several months later once the team had approval to hire more team members.

Most of the interviewers were very friendly and easy to talk to. The interviews themselves were relatively pleasant experiences.

Overall, the process was very slow.

The recruiter was very good, always responded very quickly and politely to my questions and was apologetic about the delays.
