Pros: Free coffee and food. Great colleagues (though dwindling). Excellent pay (in Australian market). Prestige (dwindling).

Cons: Incompetent senior management makes inexplicable decisions. Unpredictable, unexplained layoffs of crucial and tenured colleagues have ruined company-wide morale. The culture has transitioned from being open and encouraging of new ideas and exploration to being restrictive, closed, and extremely bureaucratic and corporate. Career mobility is very low, at least in high-cost regions. Promotions are difficult to achieve, and quotas are low. Further, performance reviews are now largely meaningless owing to the creation of a "pretty much everyone" bucket, containing everyone from average-to-high performers. Compensation growth is much lower than inflation for most people. The tech stack is entirely custom and divorced from the outside world. Skills obtained can be transferable, but not directly.

Pros: Good work-life balance in general.

Cons: I don't think there are any major cons.

Pros: I come to the office in flip-flops, and no one cares. I feel like my opinion is genuinely heard in discussions, even with more senior engineers around. The people are generally very smart but also humble.

Cons: It takes longer to build and see them in production due to the sheer scale, processes like code review, privacy review, UX reviews... Most of these processes have a reason to exist and are eased by great tooling.
