Process
Typical process of interviews with an on-site round.
Can't disclose due to an NDA, but one of the interviewers never showed up, and I was told that person might have even left Google!
Very awkward 45 minutes of my life and a complete waste of time.

Pros: Great coworkers, great food, amazing tools. Really the best place for an engineer.
Cons: You have to fight for the good projects. Everyone around you is smart. (This is a good thing, though.)

Pretty Good, But Go In With Initiative
Software Engineer • Former Employee
Mountain View, California, United States
September 23, 2025
Pros: Security, stock, so many social opportunities with internal groups, and the definition of standard benefits.
Cons: It's too easy to think things are going well when in reality the team you land in isn't a fit. Three months after you land there, give yourself a good hard look:
* Will I actually succeed in this team?
* Do I feel that I actually trust my coworkers?
If you don't identify a team you would gel with, transfer as quickly as possible.

Pros: Very impactful work, great coworkers, good work-life balance, and some interesting projects.
Cons: Due to the size of the company, different divisions of Google have different cultures. It can be hard for job applicants to know which divisions they want to work in.
