Software Engineer Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington
Process
They are very, very thorough. Be prepared to pull out your old data-structures and algorithms book for this one.
Some of the interviewers are cool, some are hard-lined dicks. But you'll get to interview with four different people, so it'll run the gamut.
Even if you're really good, there's no guarantee as they have so much churn.
Questions
Writing a binary search tree. I have to remember all the details of things like that, which I haven't touched in 10 years. Study, study, study...

- 3.0Prestige met with crippling bureaucracySoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesDecember 15, 2022Pros: * Top engineering company * Free food * Nice officeCons: Crippling bureaucracy. Politics. The GRAD system is causing stack ranking of teammates. Even the smallest tasks become hurdles due to process or seemingly unnecessary requirements. No autonomy. You need allies in your team to progress; if you're the only person of "your kind" in your team, good luck. I am the only other American on my team (non-white); my teammates are constantly speaking in non-English languages, and I am left to fend for myself. Basically Amazon now.
- 4.0Freedom, Interesting Tech, AdsSoftware Engineer • Former EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesOctober 14, 2016Pros: They treat their people well. Straightforward work. Lots of freedom to do what you want. Interesting tech. Relaxed environment. Great compensation.Cons: Fundamentally a (soul-less) ads business. Open, cramped workspace.
- 4.0Great place to grow, but room for improvementSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesNovember 16, 2025Pros: Supportive team, good learning environment, and plenty of opportunities to grow.Cons: Processes can be slow at times, and communication between teams needs improvement.
