The perks are as advertised, and the food is awesome and everywhere. The best part about working at Google is the team of engineers on every project. Everyone is helpful and encouraging. "We all make mistakes, but it's important to learn and not repeat them" is generally the motto around Google Engineering.
The sheer volume of work can be overwhelming, but the community is supportive, and there is help everywhere within Google, especially via mailing lists.
Engineers typically meet with their managers once every other week for about 15-30 minutes to sync, which some find to be too many meetings.
