The company is now very large, so it takes a while for things to happen, on the org side and on the tech side, too.
For new projects that Google starts, think of them more as an investor, not an employer.
Ask harder questions about the target audience, go-to-market strategy, and expected returns. This will hopefully help avoid the flops like Wave was, which nobody could even explain without demoing it.
