The first call was with HR. I was informed that the next two interviews would be technical, as my CV had already been cleared as relevant for the role.
However, the second interview felt very half-hearted. I was interviewed by someone from an entirely different team with different expertise than the role I applied for. The interviewer did not seem to have read my CV or have it open until the start. I had to wait five minutes for them to read it before we began.
The first ten minutes of the interview were not relevant. The interviewer indirectly asked for my age by inquiring when I graduated (I was applying for a quite senior role with 8+ years of experience; I have 9+ years of experience) and if I planned to pursue or had obtained a Master's degree. The interviewer seemed distracted immediately after this. This suggested they were already uninterested.
The rest of the interview involved understanding what I did in my current role, and that was it.
The interviewer was unable to answer my questions about what was expected for the role, what the role entails day-to-day, or what they were looking for in a candidate. I also asked about the technologies used and was told a generic "AWS." However, my CV clearly states I have been professionally trained in GCP.
I was rejected for the role with very little feedback, receiving a generic "not suited." It is unclear how I was evaluated when the interviewer seemed unsure of the role's requirements. This was an absolute waste of two weeks of preparation.
