Software Engineer Mobile Interview Experience - Singapore, Singapore

Process

I applied online and sent my CV. A few days later, I received an invitation to complete three 100-minute coding tests on Codility.

The first couple of tasks were suitable for this kind of skills test, but upon reading the third task, I felt something was wrong with the company's mentality. It's not a place where I would like to work.

Questions

  1. Person1's favorite number is X, Person2's favorite number is Y. An array A, non-empty and zero-indexed, consists of N integers. The persons are interested in occurrences of their favorite numbers X and Y in the array. They are looking for the longest leading fragment of the array in which an equal number of occurrences of X and Y exist.

int find(int X, int Y, int[] A) should return the maximum P such that A[P] contains the same number of X and Y, or -1.

  1. An integer I is a whole square if it is the square of some integer Q.

int func(int A, int B) returns the number of whole squares within the interval [A..B].

  1. Plane reservation processing. N rows of seats, each row with seats labeled A to K. Some seats are reserved. A 3-person family wants seats next to each other (seats across the aisle are not allowed). Return available options.

int func(int N, String S) S = "1A 2B 40G" reserved seats N = number of rows
