The initial interview and technical interview went well. However, during the final interview, which is typically non-technical, I was asked the exact same technical questions from the first tech interview. I proceeded regardless, and during the Q&A, I mentioned to the interviewer that HR had informed me this would be the final interview. He replied, "Oh, we put candidates through more technical interviews when we see fit." I realized this was an excuse when, with only 10 minutes left in the interview, he suddenly said, "Well, okay, let's proceed to some behavioral questions then." There was a clear miscommunication between HR and the interviewer.
I received an email two days later stating I had passed and that a pre-offer call would follow the completion of some questionnaires. Two days after that, I was rejected with the reason that they had decided to move forward with another candidate. Really???
Why should we hire you?
(Lol, really?)
