Pros
  1. Potential valuable stock awards.
  2. Leader in the ride-hailing industry in Southeast Asia, with other growing areas in addition to ride-hailing, such as Food, Express Delivery, Groceries, and many more to come.
  3. Unicorn startup with huge market share.
  4. Work that I am doing directly impacts our customers.
  5. Above-average base pay for the area.
  6. Work time is flexible and more task-driven.
  7. Despite being in the US, we have the CTO, CEO, etc., visiting quite often from Singapore.
Cons
  1. Some projects are cross-sites (although not common), and those require collaboration across time zones.

  2. The company grew too fast, so getting things to market fast is important to grab market shares, thereby accumulating tech debt.

  3. Moving from a startup to an established company often requires some amount of process. We need to define those processes.

Advice to Management
  1. Limit the amount of projects that cross R&D centers.
