Pros
  • Salary (one of the best in ID)
  • Benefits, including more annual leaves and paternal leaves compared to your average company
  • Stock options
  • You can work remotely as long as your manager is OK with it (and they're usually OK, as you often work with international teams, so you're going to be spending most of your time in Zoom calls anyway)
  • People are usually very chill and open.
  • Work-life balance (despite on-call duties)
Cons
  • Waterfall structure: big projects require alignment with a lot of stakeholders.
  • Constant moving around, as your working team can differ with different projects. This is very difficult to build bonds and working relationships, even with owners of the same product (i.e., building bonds with BE engineers as an FE engineer).
  • Too big to get anything meaningful done – paperwork is insane and massive.
  • Engineers are expected to do a lot of project management, including stakeholder management and timeline management.
Advice to Management

Hire less people, as your tech org is already too big, and have more focus.
