I was given a take-home challenge of creating a weekly menu for lunches. I was given 5 days and expected to work 3-4 hours in total. I put in a little more time than that, broken out over the course of the week.

Pros: Individual contributors are typically very friendly, hardworking, and care for each other as well as for customers.
Cons: - Management is tone-deaf and brutal at times (layoffs, benefits removal advertised as "improvements").
- No clear vision from the top. A myopic horizon is often preferred by product managers and managers so they can hit their promotion incentives, which are not crafted to encourage risk-taking or long-term projects.
