Cons: The only downside is that they are located in San Francisco, where the cost of living is pretty ridiculous. But that's not unique to ZenPayroll.

Pros: Individual contributors are typically very friendly, hardworking, and care for each other as well as for customers.
Cons: - Management is tone-deaf and brutal at times (layoffs, benefits removal advertised as "improvements").
- No clear vision from the top. A myopic horizon is often preferred by product managers and managers so they can hit their promotion incentives, which are not crafted to encourage risk-taking or long-term projects.
