Engineering Manager • Current Employee
Pros: Harvey offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems at the intersection of AI and legal technology, an area with significant potential for impact. The pace is fast, and employees have opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects and work on technically interesting challenges.
Cons: Training and Development
Harvey invests very little in employee development. Despite repeatedly requesting external courses to help upskill my team, every request was denied. The company expects employees to grow and deliver, but is unwilling to invest in the resources needed to make that happen. I had to rely on self-learning and train my own team to fill the gaps. For a company with such high expectations, the lack of investment in its people is disappointing.
Workplace Culture
Harvey talks a lot about collaboration, but its internal ranking system actively encourages employees to compete against one another rather than work together. The company's stated values often feel more like talking points than principles, and they can be weaponized during disagreements to shut down opposing viewpoints.
I was yelled at by senior leaders on multiple occasions. When I raised concerns with HR, there was little meaningful accountability. Watching leaders with a history of unprofessional behavior continue to receive visibility and recognition sent a clear message: performance and influence matter more than how people treat their colleagues.
Final Thoughts
I would only recommend joining Harvey if you have a clear, strategic goal to leverage the experience. The company demands a lot and provides little in return.
