Pros: There are awesome people, meaningful work, a great work/life balance, lots of support, and executives who respond well to feedback.

Cons: Company-level goals can shift frequently.

Pros: As a fast-growing company in a boring, hype-free domain that's largely resistant to downturns (unlike crypto, AI, D2C, SaaS, etc.), I feel like job security here is pretty solid in engineering unless a tail risk event wipes out the company. At this rate, I feel like stock options should print pretty good $ if you have the patience to grind it out another 3-5 years. Base pay is competitive.

Cons: It used to be more chill before a lot of culture-defining OGs left and externally hired middle management took over. It totally bought into the "DEI-industrial complex" without much to actually show for it. (Though, to be fair, the engineering team, including leadership, does feel less white/male than at other companies.) You actually have to work pretty hard here to stay afloat; it will be very hard to coast by on 20-30 hour weeks like I know is possible at other companies.

Pros: Everyone I’ve interacted with has been a top-tier person, incredibly talented, and fully engaged. Something that is not guaranteed at a larger company. The projects are incredibly impactful to the company’s trajectory. Work that makes it to an engineer’s plate is definitely the most important work they could be doing for the company.

Cons: It's really a choose-your-own-adventure. If you’re a self-starter or are not afraid to ask good questions, you’ll probably do well. If you don’t, you may not do as well.
