Overall, I enjoyed the interview process and had a good time meeting everyone.
I applied to HubSpot online at the end of September and didn't hear back until 3-4 weeks later, around the middle to end of October. First, I had a call with a recruiter. I was asked standard introductory questions, common across companies, to ensure genuine interest and qualification for the position. I was also asked whether I wanted to work on the Front End or the Back End, and I chose the Front End.
After that, I was given a week to complete a coding assessment where I had to interact with their API using JSON parsing and requests. There was a 3-hour timer, I believe. I appreciated being able to use any language I wanted.
I heard back 2-3 days later and was told I would be moving to the next round, which consisted of two technical portions. Since I had chosen the Front End position, I had a general data structures and algorithms coding round, where I could use any language, and a JavaScript round. In both rounds, two engineers interviewed me (four in total). Both coding rounds included a behavioral part at the end with engineering-oriented "tell me about a time..." questions.
As my interview was scheduled very early in the day, I heard back later the same day and was told I had one final round with the Director of Engineering. That was a behavioral round.
I received a phone call from the recruiter the following day and was offered the job!
Overall, I had a great experience. My recruiter was amazing and able to work with my timeline, as I was actively interviewing with other companies at the time. She also ensured I was thoroughly prepared for my interviews, setting up a prep call where I could ask specific questions about my technical rounds and giving me an idea of what to expect in the behavioral rounds.
All the people I spoke with were very kind and genuine. They provided a good sense of what it might be like working for HubSpot, so I ended up accepting the offer!
Tell me about a time you failed and what you did afterwards.
