The interview process at HubSpot was one of the most enjoyable interview experiences I have ever gone through. The recruiters I worked with were all quick to respond to any questions, transparent, and advocating for my success throughout.
I started off with a phone interview after applying via college career fair (with an employee referral as well). I was then given an unorthodox coding challenge, which I thought was much more interesting than what I've seen other companies offer.
Finally, I was brought on-site for a ~4-hour interview. This included typical on-site interview logistics with software engineers, HR, and manager rotations. Each individual interview was conversational and laid-back. The interviewers were more focused on listening to my thought process and working with me to discover how I work, rather than staring silently while I wrote on a whiteboard.
I do much better in a collaborative environment like this, and as a result, I believe I was able to show a lot more of my skills than I would have in a high-pressure interview.
