I interviewed for their mobile developer job in NYC. Based on the job description, they seemed to be looking more for someone who is actually a full-stack developer with knowledge of mostly IBM technologies.
They gave me a take-home exercise where I had to code both the front-end and back-end from scratch. There was no time limit, but they expected it would only take a few hours or a couple of days at the most to code the whole thing. I thought it was ridiculous, especially with the kind of app they wanted me to build, coupled with building the back-end from scratch with a database.
I was able to build the app, and the next round was the technical interview, which turned out to be another exercise to build another app from scratch but without the back-end while they watched me code. I only had about an hour with them. It was a disaster. I could not believe this was their interview process. They clearly could care less about the previous exercise, which was obviously harder and which I took time to design and code.
For sure, whoever passed their rounds will be very smart, but I doubt they’ll get them for the salary they might be offering for the job, especially in NYC.
Did you create an automation test for the exercise?
