Pros: Initially, great promises were made, but it ended in chaos.
Cons: As much as I'd like to reminisce about the good times I had at my job, it is essential to provide an honest and candid review for the benefit of others seeking employment opportunities from IBM.
My time at this company was quite tumultuous and eventually ended on a sour note. The company initially showed great promise, and I was genuinely excited about the work and the potential for growth. However, as time went on, it became evident that there were deep-rooted issues with the company's leadership.
There was a lack of clear direction, poor communication, and a noticeable disconnection between management and the rest of the employees.
One major downfall was the company's decision to undergo a restructuring process. While reorganizations can sometimes lead to positive changes, in this case, it only resulted in chaos and confusion. Key roles were eliminated, leading to a considerable loss of talent and expertise. This had a severe impact on the team's productivity and morale.
The handling of the restructuring process was unprofessional and lacked transparency. Thousands of employees, including myself, were laid off without any prior warning or proper support during the transition. This abrupt termination left a lasting negative impact on my professional and personal life. They didn’t even give any of us an exit survey when we left.
Moreover, the hazardous issues with leadership were not just limited to their decisions during the restructuring. There were instances of favoritism, unequal treatment, and a failure to address concerns raised by employees. The toxic work environment created an atmosphere of fear and distrust, hindering collaboration and creativity.
Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend this company to anyone seeking employment. The combination of the poorly executed restructuring process and the hazardous leadership made for a detrimental work experience along with horrible pay and benefits compared to industry standards. I hope that the company will learn from its mistakes and improve, but I would advise potential employees to approach with caution.
