Software Developer Interview Experience - Toronto, Canada

Process

It was a half-hour call from the hiring manager.

It was a conference line where you had to input your application ID after dialing the phone number. It was a positive experience.

The questions were mostly about behavior during the phone call. The on-site interview will be more technical, with more detailed questions. Preparing yourself with knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, and networking would be helpful. For example:

  • Threads are easier to create than processes since they don't require a separate address space.
  • Multithreading requires careful programming since threads share data structures that should only be modified by one thread at a time. Unlike threads, processes don't share the same address space.
