- 3.0Good company to get good experience, but not worth staying long termSoftware Engineer • Former EmployeeToronto, Ontario, CanadaApril 12, 2021Pros: IBM is a huge company and has many types of positions in the field of software engineering. It's not too hard to find a team/position to which your skills or your goals align. There are lots of smart people there, so you can learn a lot from others. The IBM name looks good on your resume for when you want to apply to other companies after working here.Cons: - Pay is average in the industry, and not very negotiable. - It's hard to move up in the company due to too much bureaucracy and politics amongst team members. - Some colleagues I've met are real jerks, and IBM doesn't do much to ensure that workers treat each other well.
