The recruiter was really great to work with and kept me updated throughout the process. The application process was a bit painful. I had applied via their careers site and received no response; in fact, they hadn’t seen my CV at all. I had to be referred by someone in IBM for them to review it. I had an initial discussion with a partner and two with Associate Partners. The outcome was that my experience was not adequate for the role and my salary expectations were too high. I personally do struggle with interviews in terms of conveying what I do and how I do it. It’s something I do need to work on, but this was quite bad. The job description was not at all what they described during the interview. They couldn’t tell me what I would be doing or what they do on projects; it was all very high-level. I’ve been a consultant for over 10 years now, and most interviewers could tell me that. The Associate Partner in the second interview was quite rude towards the end and started reading emails and notifications, which I found quite disrespectful. Overall, I would say whilst it was a bad experience, I’m glad I tried with a big tech firm. If you’re trying to get an interview, you have a stronger chance if you’re referred.
