XIV Devops Python Developer Interview Experience - Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Initial phone interview with common questions about skills, experience, and the job description.

A few days later, I took a remote interview that involved coding on a whiteboard. It was a pretty simple question involving traversing and manipulating an M x N matrix, along with complexity calculations.

A week later, I had an in-person interview at the XIV offices in Tel Aviv. The interviewers were the recruiting team leader and an engineer. They were very nice people.

Questions

The first task was to implement a function that outputs a sorted array from two input sorted arrays.

The second task was a difficult algorithmic question about a client and a storage server. It required implementing the logic behind reading and writing a single document.

Constraints:

  • The client may crash at any time.
  • The client has read and write functions.
  • The client has only volatile memory.
  • The server has read(address) and write(address, data) functions.
  • The server is always up.
  • The server has an endless amount of blocks.
  • There is only one single file to be read and written.
  • The last non-corrupted version of the document should always be returned.
  • The document is smaller than a block of the server.
